The second-generation Ford F-150 Lightning is due in

And here are reports of some other plans for Ford’s electric truck

AutoForecast Solutions says the next-generation Ford F-150 Lightning has an August 18, 2025 production start date. After that, the AFS predicts a four-month production gap between it and the current F-150 Lightning, which is expected to remain inside publication until December 24 of that year. These are two more speculative pieces in the fog puzzle of Ford’s electric truck strategy in the coming years. Based on news reports as well as comments from Ford CEO Jim Farley since the initial launch of the F-150 Lightning, we know there’s plenty more to come, but it’s unclear how much will be exclusive to the Lightning line or cash fold of the van

This upcoming electric full-size will run on the new TE1 platform that can also run on the Expedition and Lincoln Navigator, a dedicated EV platform to shed the platform tied to the traditional ICE F-150 while gaining better batteries and more range. The BlueOval City production complex in Tennessee will also build another EV pickup, one Farley told Automotive News would be "a vehicle we don't have today [with] a completely new platform — a full-size pickup platform. We think it's going to be that." ." . . . ." ." to be very loud.” That's a pickup that Ford also describes as a "next-generation electric vehicle, as opposed to the F-150 Lightning." Kaycee on the Miss Geoelectric YouTube channel said she spoke with Farley at the Lighting launch earlier this year and was told the pickup would have a radical and possibly controversial design, active aerodynamics, and be able to offer nearly 100 miles of range up the F 150 Thunderbolt. Whatever this rig is, Lacey said Ford has been around for about 2½ years.

Reports say that there is an electric Ranger and an electric Bronco on the way. Between this and anything else Ford is cooking up, it’s hard to tell where the Lightning ends and the new stuff begins. And what kind of car doesn’t Ford have today that sits on a full-sized platform, can generously be described as a truck, and has a very high volume? The electrified Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator are due out in 2025, if those can be called "trucks."

In the meantime, the current Lightning on the Mustang Mach-E is still waiting to be moved to Sync 4A infotainment before the delayed change to Android Automotive. The redesigned Sync is said to bring customer-requested features such as a refreshed interface, larger signage, and new HVAC controls using an audio button.
